Jasvir, a prolific interfaith activist and a leading figure
within the British Sikh community is the founding Chair of City Sikhs, one of
the main Sikh organisations in the UK. It provides a voice for progressive
Sikhs and has over 10,000 members throughout the country.
He is the former Co-Chair of the Faiths Forum for London,
working with the capital's nine main faith communities in encouraging and
promoting interfaith social initiatives.
Jasvir is also the co-founder of
South Asian Heritage Month in the UK, which is an annual awareness month that
celebrates, commemorates and educates on South Asian history and culture, as
well as helping others to better understand the diverse heritage that continues
to link Britain with South Asia.
He is a regular contributor to BBC Radio 4's Thought for
the Day, which is listened to by over 7 million people in the UK and is the
main religious broadcast in the country.
In addition to his extensive work with communities, Jasvir is an
established family law barrister who has been in practice for the last 15
years. He was recognised in the 2017 New
Year’s Honours for his services to faith communities and social cohesion, and
at the age of 36 he became the youngest Sikh to hold an OBE at that time.
