“RELIGION AS A CULTURE OF RESISTANCE AND RENEWAL”

The 2nd Annual Conference of the Academy for the Study of Religion is a multi-faith conference bringing together scholars from the world’s major religions to speak on a common topic from the point of view of their respective religious traditions. Faith groups, Scholars, and Specialists from various disciplines make presentations and host discussions that serve to educate and inform attendees. The conference also provides a platform where all major religions can pool their collective wisdom and teachings regarding the topic or theme of the conference.

Scholars representing 10-12 faiths from Indigenous Spirituality, Jainism, Confucianism, Taoism, Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Sikhism, Baháʼí Faith and Humanism are included in discussion panels each year. As this is Caribbean-born event, several local, national and regional faith leaders also attend and bring a regional perspective to the conference. The conference aims to bring different religious communities together in a manner which breeds tolerance, peace, cooperation, and understanding among the different religions of the society.
